Greetings from little spacemen

The Soviet Union was rightly proud of its achievements in space.  Greetings postcards produced in the 1950s and 60s often included images of satellites and rockets, especially after Yuri Gagarin became the first man in space in April 1961. Christmas being effectively banned by the state in the Soviet era, the big winter holiday was the celebration of New Year, and many cards included the iconic figure of the festival, the ‘New Year’s Boy’, dressed as a spaceman.
