Celebrating raspberry jam

I found out that today in Russia is the Day of Raspberry Jam!
I wonder if other flavours have their own celebratory day. Maybe raspberry is the iconic jam in Russia. It is certainly the preserve of choice for the hedgehog in the animation ‘Hedgehog in the Fog‘. He carries a jar of it in his little bundle, on his way to meet his friend the bear. They will drink tea with raspberry jam as they look up at the stars. I like the Russian custom of alternating a sip of tea, traditionally from a glass – no milk added, of course – with a spoonful of jam from a saucer. And I make no apologies for plugging that wonderful film yet again.
